A lot of people believe that in order to get rid of stomach fat and get flat abs, you need heavy fitness equipment and a gym membership. While these things can certainly help, they're not essential. How to get a flat belly fast with minimal equipment as long as you have the right knowledge, the right mindset, and follow a sound eating plan.

The right knowledge

A lot of people want to flatten their abs but most fail. This isn't for lack of trying but for lack of knowledge. If you don't know how to workout effectively and eat in the right way, you will never lose belly fat and tone your abs. Invest in knowledge first and equipment later.

The right equipment

To get a flat belly at home you do need some equipment. This shouldn't be an ab machine and nothing else but equipment to help you tone your entire body. The reason for that is that you can't have flat abs if the rest of your body isn't toned. Our body is a single unit. You need to get fit all over to help you burn off more fat and get toned.

The right equipment can be dumbbells, jumping rope (to do cardio), fitness step (to do jumps), a mat to do crunches,a fitness DVD set to show you exercises and motivate you, and workout bands. You don't have to get all of these things, but some of them can certainly help.

The right eating plan

If you have the right knowledge, you will also know how to eat right. To do that, I recommend getting an abs program which includes both fitness and dietery guidelines. Some tips are:

    Cook your food yourself and avoid take-out and restaurants as much as possible
    Increase consumption of fruit and vegetables
    Avoid starchy food like white bread, regular pasta, white rice, and so on.
    Drink a lot of water.
    Avoid artificial sweeteners. They're mostly bad for your health
    Eat multiple times a day

If you eat right and workout right, your metabolism will increase, you will have more energy, you will burn more fat, and you will get a flat belly at home.
